The K’uL Management Group was formed to foster the development of a sustainable economy for the Penticton Indian Band.  K’uL Group is the “for profit” business investment and development division of the Penticton Indian Band and is the umbrella organization that holds the corporate business investments; it is responsible for the overall management of the band’s business portfolio.


Position Overview

At K’uL Construction LP, we relate our success directly to the strength of our team. To continue operating at these standards, we’re seeking an experienced construction professional. The Construction Foreman, under the direction of the General Manager, is responsible for maintaining solid construction practices on all building projects while leading a team of skilled carpenters. This position requires knowledge of the construction industry. Specifically, the practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety associated with this industry. The foreman must be proficient at the following tasks: foundation forming and rebar, house framing and back framing, related finishing skills and details, reading blueprints, and must possess mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.


Key Responsibilities

  • Construct chutes, forms and align form panels for pouring concrete
  • Observe and comply with all health and safety regulations and ensures any apprentices under your direction comply
  • Lay building foundations
  • Confirm trueness of structures, with a plumb bob and level
  • Framing, concrete work, finishing skills
  • May be required to build trestles, bridges towers and other structures
  • Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment
  • Keep a daily log of tasks
  • Respect and respond to direction given
  • Set up scaffolding as needed
  • Guide and teach apprentices ensuring they are performing tasks correctly.
  • Perform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and the work does not exceed own limitations
  • Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as required


Skills & Qualifications

  • Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter certification considered and asset
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Carpenter
  • 3-5 years of experience working in construction
  • Knowledge of best WorkSafeBC practices
  • Knowledge of BC Building Code
  • Knowledge of safe operation of carpentry tools
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to read building specifications, blueprints and as-builts
  • Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to team members, and others
  • Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labour estimates
  • Makes suggestions for improvement
  • Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current
  • Respect diversity – treat others with respect


Working Conditions

  • Job requires ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of construction project
  • Requires ability to safely utilize all equipment and tools (i.e. climb ladders, handle tools)
  • Job requires ability to work with tools, lumber and materials
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
  • Hazards associated with the construction industry
